We picked Sedona for our honeymoon because of the beautiful hikes/views, southwest cuisine, and general oddities. The crowds were likely deterred because of Covid, but the relative in went early October was a great time to visit.
I recommend getting to the trail head by 6:00-6:30 AM. The parking lots fill up fast and this is also the best time to hike because it gets hot in the late morning/afternoon. A number of the trails have a parking fee which can be paid at trailhead kiosks. If you're planning on going on a few different hikes while visiting, you can save a bit of money by purchasing a week long Red Rocks Parking Pass which is available at the visitor's center or grocery store (Basha's).
Sedona is known for its "Vortexes" (vortices). You can learn about them here. We didn't learn about these until afterwards so I can't say our enegies were...recalibrated but the hikes were still great.
We went on
We stopped somwhere around Creekside American Bistro (which looked great but had a long wait) to pick up a quick coffee and a breakfast sandwhich after a hike. Unfortuneatly, I can't find it on Google maps anymore but hope to find it again some day.
Mesa Grill - this is a perfect happy hour spot: good specials and you get to watch planes takeoff and land with a breathtaking backdrop. Happy hour's also a good time to go since this place fills up for dinner and sunset views.
SaltRock - Great margartias and views from the back deck but a bit pricey.
Elote- it's a good idea to make a reservation. We did takeout because their tables were so limited due to Covid (and we didnt plan ahead). The meal was delicious but we definitely felt it would have been better "fresh".
We stayed at Sedona Views B&B and absolutely loved it. It was just outside of the the main downtown so it was a bit quieter is a beautiful property. Across the street, you have access to the creek which was amazing for a post-hike cold bath. There was also a dog that hung out with us which is always nice.
